Sun + Dotter is a home and fashion styling service for families, founded in 2013 in San Francisco by writer & stylist Janette Crawford.
I started Sun + Dotter to help new parents relieve some of the stress that comes along with having a baby. Whether for baby products or maternity, my goal is to help identify just what's essential, and I'll make sure it fits your values, too (ethics, good design, organic, etc.). I hope to give you the confidence that I lacked while I was pregnant, from creating a registry with style, to figuring out what's really even necessary, to dressing for your ever-changing pregnancy body.
I’m passionate about spending my money on things that support values I believe in, like good design, craftsmanship and social good. As my daughter came along, I tried to approach baby things in the same way. But babies grow so quickly that it’s hard to get long-term use out of many products at all, or to justify a premium price point on the particularly short-term ones.
So in regards to baby items, I’ve applied a modified set of values. Good design is a must. Quality and ethics are still important. But even more so is versatility, like a high chair that grows with a child or a burp cloth that can be reused as a bib. And of course, the price has to fit the use.
For Sun + Dotter's interior design services, specializing in kid-friendly home and nursery design, I'm proud to partner with some of the best designers in the country through Homepolish. For fashion styling and other consulting, I accept a limited number of projects. To receive my top product picks for families in your Inbox each month, be sure to join the Sun + Dotter newsletter.
My writing and style have appeared in Cosmopolitan Magazine, Refinery29, DesignSponge, Apartment Therapy, eHow, PopTech, Worldchanging, LeanIn.org and more. I have spoken at Alt Summit, the Conference for Creative Entrepreneurs, Texas Style Council and PRNews’ Facebook Conference.
